Nova Norte
About the project
Madrid Nuevo Norte is one of Europe’s most ambitious urban regeneration projects, aimed at completely transforming the northern axis of the Spanish capital. Masterplanned in part by the acclaimed architectural practice RSHP, the development focuses on creating a highly sustainable, transit-oriented mixed-use district centered around a newly expanded Chamartín railway station.
A defining feature of the design is the capping of the extensive, previously exposed railway tracks to bridge historically severed neighborhoods. This bold infrastructural move allows for the creation of a massive, continuous green park that will act as a new ecological lung for the city. RSHP’s masterplan extends the iconic Paseo de la Castellana and prioritizes pedestrian-friendly environments that seamlessly blend world-class office spaces with thousands of new homes, retail, and cultural venues. By integrating cutting-edge green infrastructure, extensive public transport networks, and zero-carbon building strategies, Madrid Nuevo Norte is designed to set a new global standard for modern, environmentally conscious urban development that prioritizes community connectivity and public well-being.
